Richard Buckman has played a significant role in numerous economic development projects throughout his career. Among his notable contributions, he collaborated with the Hunt Brothers of Dallas, Texas, to develop the Crossroads Center in Gulfport, Mississippi, which became the first modern shopping destination on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

In addition, Richard facilitated the organization of local landowners around the I-10 and I-110 interchange in D’Iberville, Mississippi. He brought these stakeholders together to form a unified group focused on pursuing a large-scale development project. Following these efforts, Buckman successfully secured the necessary approvals and waivers from the Mississippi Department of Transportation and the United States Department of Transportation, ensuring the infrastructure required for these developments could move forward.

Today, the results of his groundwork are evident. The Promenade shopping center has been developed on the land Richard originally helped organize, and the area now features several car dealerships on both the north and south sides of Interstate 10. His vision and ability to navigate complex processes laid the foundation for these transformative developments.
